Funds to Be Distributed Over Three Consecutive Years •
With deep gratitude, PEAK announces our award of a $30,000 grant from the Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust. PEAK will receive $10,000 each year for three years, funding extracurricular activities for children with financial need in San Luis Obispo. In accordance with PEAK policies, 100% of grant funds will be used to pay tuition, purchase equipment, and reimburse operating expenses.
The Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust provides financial assistance to organizations seeking to improve the quality of life for residents of San Luis Obispo and the surrounding area. The Trust awards funds to programs in six key areas, including youth development. In this specific area, the Miossi Trust sponsors programs that offer local youth opportunities they would not otherwise have access to or that provide them with exposure to different ideas and opinions.
This generous award reaffirms the value of our mission and our commitment to building a community where all youth feel connected, strong, and valued.
PEAK Registrations Exceed 300 for Summer and Fall Programs
Upcoming Registration Clinics Scheduled for November
This spring, PEAK provided registration support, financial assistance, and equipment at in-person registration clinics held at C.L. Smith, Hawhorne, and Pacheco Elementary Schools. Currently, 313 scholarship recipients are enrolled in summer and fall programs.
Families interested in registration assistance may contact PEAK online or receive a referral from a teacher or school counselor. The next registration clinics will be held in November to help families sign up for basketball, softball, and baseball.

Thanks to supporters, this year’s “Peaks for PEAK” fundraiser inspired a record-breaking 419 submissions, raising $16,760 for PEAK. For every hike submitted online, The Mountain Air donated $20 dollars to PEAK, and the Thorshov Family matched each donation. Thank you for your support!

Partnership Helps Scholarship Recipients Develop Lifelong Skills and Build Confidence
The collaboration between Kennedy Club Fitness and PEAK serves a vital role in community safety and youth development by making essential, life-saving swim skills accessible to every child in San Luis Obispo.
According to Eliza Lewis, Kennedy Fitness Swim School Director, living on the Central Coast means children are constantly surrounded by open water, pool gatherings, and ocean environments, making water safety an imperative skill rather than just a recreational luxury.
Through certified instructors and top-tier aquatic facilities, Kennedy Club Fitness delivers expert instruction in water safety, stroke mechanics, and physical confidence. Meanwhile, PEAK bridges the financial gap for swimming classes by offering need-based scholarships, ensuring that financial barriers never prevent children from receiving proper swim instruction.
Our partnership, adds Lewis, empowers young residents with lifelong water confidence, reduces drowning risks across the region, and reinforces the community’s commitment to equitable youth health and wellness.

Nexus SLO Partners with PEAK
Level-Up Dance Camp Introduces Students to Dance Styles
In June, six PEAK scholarship recipients participated in the Nexus SLO “Level-Up Dance Camp.” According to owner Alicia Aragon Portillo, the camp is designed to introduce students aged 7 – 14 to dance, as they learn and perform one complete routine over the course of a week.
Participants are introduced to a mix of styles: Hip Hop, Latin Motion, Swing, K-pop, and line dancing. Everything builds toward a final performance for family and friends. Nexus SLO aims to create a space where kids can build confidence, try something new, connect with others, and experience the thrill of performing live.

Shout Out to Sensorio Paso Robles
Proceeds from Sensorio Gives Back Evening Benefitted PEAK
On July 12, Paso Robles-based Sensorio, one of California’s largest immersive art exhibitions, donated a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold to PEAK as part of its Sensorio Gives Back charitable program.
In addition to receiving $4,450 for the event, PEAK staffed an information booth to answer questions about the organization. Thank you to Sensorio for the generous donation, which will help local students pursue their extracurricular passions.
