Pacheco PEAK 2015 Progress Report and Request for Donations

In the spirit of the holiday season, PEAK* would like to give thanks for the incredibly generous donations from our community, which have enabled us to award more than 250 scholarships to Pacheco students since 2011. These scholarships give our children a chance to participate in extracurricular activities of their choice: art classes, martial arts, music lessons, sports, and more. Now we could use your help to gather donations and equipment to help ensure the ongoing success of this program.

Donations Needed

Please consider adding PEAK to your list of charitable, tax-deductible donations for 2015. Even a small contribution can go a long way, and 100% of your donation will fund extracurricular activities for children in need. If you choose to donate, remember to address your check to Pacheco PTA/PEAK and either mail it to the address below or drop it off in the Pacheco office.

Supplies & Equipment Needed

If you have any new or gently used items for extracurricular activities (cleats, instruments, balls, etc.), please email me to arrange a time/place to drop them off. All donations are tax deductible, so you will receive a donation receipt for your records.

The PEAK program will continue to thrive thanks to the kindness and generosity of people like you. If you are interested in helping in other ways, feel free to call or email me, and if you have friends who might be interested, please forward this email to them. On behalf of all of us who work to keep this program going, thank you for your generosity.

Safe travels and best wishes for the holiday season,

Clothing “Swap-O-Rama-Rama” to Benefit PEAK

If you’re like me, you’ve been meaning to purge your closet of the things you never wear, but the task always falls to the bottom of your to-do list. Here’s a little motivation to do that chore now:

This Saturday, June 2, 11:00 – 4:00, bring at least one bag of unwanted clothing to the 3rd Annual Swap-O-Rama-Rama (SORR) at CL Smith Elementary School, pay a $10 entrance fee, and walk away with as many new-to-you articles as you want.

Sound good? It gets even better: the SORR also features workshops led by local artists, who will help you alter and embellish your new clothing so it’s just as you like it. Live music by Zongo will help inspire your creativity.

All proceeds from this year’s SORR will benefit the PEAK program, Promoting Extracurricular Activities for Kids (www.peakslo.org). Check something off your to-do list, take home great new clothing for next to nothing, and benefit a great cause? That’s a win-win-win!

See you Saturday!

Pacheco PEAK Fall Progress Report & Equipment Drive

PEAK* has great news to share with you: thanks to generous donations from our community, we awarded 20 scholarships this fall to Pacheco students, K – 6th grade. These scholarships enable our students to participate in extracurricular activities of their choice, including art classes, basketball, guitar lessons, gymnastics, karate, piano lessons, indoor soccer, swimming, and volleyball. All but four students are first-time participants in their chosen activity. Now we need your help to gather equipment for these students and donations to help pay for their enrollment.

Supplies & Equipment Needed

If you have any new or gently used items listed below, please email me to arrange a time/place to drop them off. All donations are tax deductible, so if you would like a donation receipt for tax purposes, we will be happy to provide one.

  • Swim goggles, swim trunks (sizes 9/M and 6-7S), and one-piece bathing suits (size M/9-10 and XL/16)
  • Karate gi, shirt size medium, pants 12 – 14
  • Dance or gymnastics leotards or tights: shirt size 7/8, pants size 6/7
  • Piano keyboard
  • Volleyball and volleyball shoes (size 4)
  • Basketball shoes: sizes 2.5 (x2) and 7

Donations Needed

Please consider adding PEAK to your list of charitable, tax-deductible donations for 2011. Even a small contribution can go a long way; here are just a few examples:

  • $65 = one season of YMCA basketball

  • $31 = four art classes
  • $15 = one year of Cub Scouts

If you choose to donate, please remember to address your check to Pacheco PTA/PEAK and either mail it to the address below or drop it off in the Pacheco office. We also welcome store gift cards (Sports Authority, Big 5, Dance Shop, etc.), which are used to purchase new equipment as needed.

PEAK awards biannual scholarships, and it will continue to thrive with the kindness of people like you. If you are interested in helping in other ways, feel free to call or email me, and if you know others who might be interested, forward this email to them. Thanks again for your generosity, and best wishes for the holiday season.

Pacheco PEAK Summer 2011 Equipment Drive

This is just a quick note of thanks to those of you who donated new/used equipment or money last Thursday for our Pacheco PEAK* Scholars. If you still have something to contribute, feel free to drop it off at my house any day, any (reasonable) time: 752 Meinecke Avenue, SLO. We have a small courtyard in front, so if no one is home, you can simply leave your items there.

We’re trying to outfit 15 soccer players for this fall’s AYSO season, so cleats, shin guards, or soccer balls would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have a Cub Scouts uniform for an 8-year-old boy or a Girl Scouts uniform that would fit a 10-year-old girl, we have a couple students who would love to wear them.

Best wishes for a great summer,

Susan
